In the modern era, English has become very much essential.  English learning is the need of the hour. To improve our personality, all of us want to speak fluent English. But, many of us are unable to speak good and impressive English due to lack of confidence and knowledge about English Grammar and Writing Skills. Today, I will share with you, following 10 Best Ways/ Pro Tips, by which you can improve your spoken English Skills and speak fluent English in the year 2024:-

Step 1 - Improve Your Vocabulary. 

                 

                On daily basis, we should learn one English word with its meaning so as to increase our vocabulary. We should inculcate the habit of learning only one word on daily basis. It will not only make us confident but also make us confident in speaking effective English. We should also make sentence of the word learnt on daily basis. It should be done by maintaining a separate dedicated notebook in which we can write difficult words with its meaning in English & Hindi and make a sentence on the same. To find out new words, we should read English Newspapers and encircle the difficult words and note down in our notebook. We can also find influencive words through magazines, English movies, etc. We should focus only on one word on daily basis and after a week, we should not only revise all the words learnt in the last week but also use the same in our daily conversation. Whenever you encounter any word you don’t know the meaning of, whether easy or difficult, you should note down in your notebook. 

Step 2 - Learn Step by Step Grammar. 

We should learn English grammar from the very beginning. All the topics like Helping Verbs, Tenses, Adjectives, Adverbs, conditionals, Modals, Articles, Narration, Passive Voice, Editing, Omission, Jumbled Words, etc. should be learnt. It can be learnt easily by self studying if we are dedicated and passionate about it. Not only English Grammar but also Writing skills matter a lot for learning influential and impressive spoken English. It is not at all wrong to say that English Grammar is the backbone and base of Spoken English.

The first thing to focus is on Tenses. We should learn from the very beginning i.e. from 'Helping Verb'.

Tense is the main base of learning spoken English. If we have learnt Tenses, completely, we can say that we have learnt half of the English. Tense is the turning point of learning spoken English. There are basically 12 types of tenses in all. A brief description of the same is given above for reference. I will keep on sharing with you all the 12 tenses off and on. But, I must say that without Tenses, Spoken/ Written English cannot be learnt. That will just be a cramming of sentences without understanding/ gaining the exact knowledge of Tenses. 

 

Each Tense will be studied under four heads:-

 

1.   Aff   -   He goes to school.

2.   Neg -  He does not go to school.

3.   Int / Aff - Does he go to school?

4.   Int/ Neg - Does he not go to school?

 

Step 4 - Try to speak English with Strangers especially with Customer Care Executives.

We should never hesitate while speaking English with others. If we feel shy and hesitant, while speaking English with strangers, there is the best alternative for this. We should speak in English with Customer Care Executives of any Company/ Bank/ Institution, because they will give you exposure to learn English directly or indirectly. They will never let you down if you speak wrong English rather they would try to understand your requirements. 

Step 5 - Read English Newspapers & Magazines Regularly.

 

Make it a habit to read English Newspapers and Magazines on regular basis. The English Newspaper could be of your choice, whether online or offline. There are so many English Newspapers which can be accessed even from your mobile easily like Google News, Times of India, Hindustan Times e-Paper, Delhi Hindi e-paper, Online newspaper wikipedia, Livemint      e-paper, English Newspapers in India, etc. Similarly, online magazines can be accessed like India Today Magazine, Outlook Magazine, Forbes India Magazine, Car India Magazines, Pratiyogita Darpan Magazine, Competition Success Review, Digital Magazine, Champak Magazine - Delhi Press, Magic Pot Magazine and The Week Magazine, etc. The same can be accessed free of cost. Offline newspapers and magazines are readily available in the market on nominal payment basis. Reading this literature enhances our vocabulary as well as Spoken English a lot, so are very helpful for learning Written/ Spoken English a lot.  In TV also, we should try to watch English News Channels to enhance our knowledge of English although Hindi New Channels are very interesting to watch despite we should focus on English News Channels to improve our communication skills. 

Step 6 - Watch English Movies.

We should watch English Movies sometimes as it enhances our English knowledge. Sometimes, as beginners, we are not able to understand the English dialogues spoken in the movie, in that case, we can use English subtitles through which we can understand the dialogues spoken in the movie. It imperatively enhances our English knowledge, which is must if we want to learn good and effective communication skills.  

Step 7 - Try to Create an Atmosphere/ Scene to Practice Speaking English.

Sometimes, we need to create an atmosphere/ scene to practice speaking English. For example, sometimes, we have thought of a word to practice in a real time situation, we should create an atmosphere so that the word fits suitably in that situation. Its benefit is that we will be able to learn that word with its application in a real time scenario which will give us exposure to improve/ enhance our communication skills. 

Step 8 - Don't Hesitate while Speaking English. 

It is very very important not to hesitate while speaking English. In the beginning, if we hesitate while speaking English, we should try to speak in front of a mirror. It will get rid us from hesitation. If we have learnt not only tenses, but also all other topics of English Grammar  like Modals, Active Passive Voice, Subject-Verb Concord, Direct & Indirect Speech, Clauses, Determiners, Prepositions and Integrated Grammar like Gap Filling, Editing, Omission, Sentence Reordering & Sentence Transformation, etc alongwith Writing Skills like Letter Writing, Article Writing, Speech Writing, Advertisement, E-Mail, Notice Writing, etc. We should believe in ourselves and speak confidently without caring for others, whether they are making fun of us or not.

Step 9 - Be Confident and Ignore Others if They are Making Fun of You. 

It is also linked to Step 8 above as if we have learnt all grammar and writing skill topics properly we should be confident enough while writing/ speaking English and should always ignore others if others are making fun of us due to inappropriate English communication skills. 

Step 10    -    Always Try to Learn from Your Mistakes.   

It is necessary not to let go our mistakes as it is, but we must learn from our mistakes. Whenever, we make a mistakes, we should try to correct the mistakes and try to learn from it.
